Reading is such a critical and important part of our lives. We read to our children in utero, we read to our newborns, our toddlers, our preschoolers, and our older children. We encourage, support and help our children to read and open the door to so much information and joy. March is reading month and it kicks off with National Read Across America Day on March 2, 2018.
National Read Across America Day began in 1998 as part of Read Across America as an initiative on reading that was created by the National Education Association. Each year it is celebrated on or closely around March 2nd which is the birthday of Dr. Seuss. For many, this is Dr. Seuss day. The focus is motivation and awareness about reading especially for children and youth.
